Hi there...I'm back on the blog to give you some great organizing tips...Actually, I wasn't going to post this on the blog, I was going to just post this on facebook for my facebook fans (are you a fan yet?), but did you know that there is a max of 420 characters allowed on status updates? Yeah, me either. In any case...
My first 1099 for the 2009 tax year arrived in the mail yesterday, the holidays are over and tax time is approaching once again :-( Do you have somewhere to put these tax papers as they come in the mail...if not, create a space for them NOW. I just have a file folder labeled 2009 taxes. Throughout the year I put any donation receipts in this folder so that they are there when I need them. It doesn't have to be a file folder...just a box, or a paper tray...anyplace that is HOME for your tax papers that you will soon (if not already) be inundated with. You just want a single location so that important papers do not get lost within piles of bills or junk mail.
Throughout the next month, as you have a few spare moments gather additional information you will need, donation receipts for example. Just spending a few minutes once or twice a week, will make things much easier when it is time to sit down and get your taxes done.
Hope this helps :-)
