Summer is here and if you have kids you are going to hear this more than once! We have plenty of fun things planned this summer, but I know I am still going to hear these words from my 11 year old daughter. I am being preemptive and have come up with what I hope will be a great solution. The I'M BORED JAR:
I just took a jar that I had stored away and decorated it with some ribbon and stickers...you can use whatever you have around the house, a coffee can, oatmeal container, whatever. Get your kids involved and let them decorate it...anything will work.
In the jar are strips of paper that my daughter must pull out whenever she says those dreaded words "I'm Bored!". The strips contain suggestions of fun things to do as well as chores, so she is taking a chance! Some examples:
- runs through the sprinklers
- vacuum the family room
- de clutter your room by getting rid of 10 things
- let's go to the Snow Cone Snack!
- read for one hour
If you know those "I'm bored" words are going to drive you crazy this summer, try this fun craft, be creative and good luck!!
